We saw? Timber beamer Timbre four years ago not drown in the Music Centre in Eindhoven? The three had just completed her first album on a major label? Released, which made it thanks to Nico Dijkshoorn cautious twitter hype. As for program beamer Jónsi seemed intimate folk of Canadians at that time too soft to impress the grotesque Eindhoven room. How different is that tonight, as Timber Timbre four men Sleeping Beauty plays with her intense folk noir.
Program is for? Sean Nicholas Savage, also from Canada. Wrapped in a raincoat and accompanied by a beat-bearded man plays the young Steve Buscemi lookalike beamer slicke R & B of his debut album released last year? Other Life. We hear a lot of eighties influences and bad jokes of the lady killer, but musically Sean knows nothing interesting to brew: single 'She Looks Like You' is the only song that manages to captivate more than a minute. And why each track fade out?
The stage setting of Timber Timbre is very special. Two cozy porch lights dangling from the ceiling, while in the background a huge disco ball and some standing pears complete the living room setting. Conspicuously absent is the saxophone, which in most recent album? Hot Dreams by - likewise the evening absent - Colin Stetson played such an important role. Opening with 'Grand Canyon' of a living room setting or saxophone lack is little question: singer and former filmmaker Taylor Kirk sings with his distinctive tenor voice an imaginary trip from Phoenix to Hollywood, while guitarist Simon Trottier his six-string guitar - not for the last time tonight - as bass playing.
We do not hear tonight the same instruments as varied in the last three plates. Surprisingly, the absence of Colin Stetson is that of violinist Mika Posen, who are cared for both (and replaced) by keyboardist Mathieu Charbonneau. This leads inevitably to live two lesser moments: the minute and a half long duet between beamer drums and saxophone on title track 'Hot Dreams', perhaps the highlight of the album, is now relegated to an ugly synthesizer gebrei. The same happens to the ironing session at the end of 'Run From Me ", though us a sample of the ladies choir present on album here fortunately saved.
They are the only criticisms of a strong performance that relies explicitly on the most recently released album. beamer "We can play all night ... we do not have many songs That," quips Taylor Kirk at the start of the encore, after which he publieksverzoekje 'Demon Host' solo brings to sing. That supposedly limited oeuvre is primarily a choice of the band: the first two self-released record is nothing played tonight. However, the self-titled album in 2009, which makes more impressed now than they were in Eindhoven.? Words like "intense" and "insistent" shoot through your head when Taylor ceiling light indicates a move with his guitar, and valve 'Lay Down In The Tall Grass "how he sings every night of our dreams will. A tad scary even as he with his arm stretched (being a true Nick Cave) asks "will you beg for forgiveness / will you pray to be saved / the way you choke your children / whenthey spit in your face?" Logically dares no one to take pictures when he asks the audience to put away the cameras and mobile phones. Is it folk noir, dark waltz, David Lynch, americana bulldozer? beamer Perhaps, but Timber Timbre is certainly nice lekkre.

The "timbre" of the group undoubtedly refers to the distinct and recognizable voice of frontman shapeways Taylor Kirk. That thought we at least to wander around the worldwide web taught us that Timber Timbre (which we otherwise ever saw live in a church) refers to the sound of the first place Canadians music recordings: a wooden hut in the woods of Ontario . Since their emergence spent accompanied mentioned five five albums shapeways with Hot dreams as most recent achievement. Not only the vocals are very typical, the music that is created holds a special shapeways place in an already very rich and varied landscape. Folk why Timber Timbre is known, spans a tightrope between swampy blues and eerie soundscapes where Danny Elfman, the composer Tim Burton, a hand appears to have. On this new album, moreover they do that with the addition of Mexican influences as you know from the soundtrack of From Dusk Till Dawn or Los Lobos. The best example is Grand Canyon, a song which Canadians shapeways break new ground. Model also contains shapeways the carpet rolled out for the next issue. This low commotion is ideal material to use in TV shows or commercials. Moreover, Taylor Kirk plays in his phrasing beautifully with the auditory confusion that can arise between "this low commotion" and "this locomotion." Timber Timbre is fodder for folk who are happy to see cheating. As with their previous shapeways records they take you into a universe which is always something to discover. The new tomorrow sustains on apparent calm which something seems to be brooding, the title song belongs on every plate of Tindersticks and the Advance single Curtains ?! is the missing link between the said Tindersticks and Arcade Fire. The Three Sisters is a worthy end in which a jazzy saxophone lulls us to sleep when night falls. You can also read this review here on Indie Style. Listen to the album below:

The stylish Timbre Speaker industrial designer Casey Lin consists of a wooden table and two oddly shaped glass, which together act as a speaker. The special feature of the design is the ability to move the glass, which you can adjust the timbre of the music. It is also possible to remove the glasses, and there are objects to be placed on to your choice - every time different sounds again! The Timbre Speaker is not for sale, but there is a video:

Sleater-Kinney - No Cities to Love March 18, 2015, No Comments

? (Album - PIAS / Arts & Crafts metric Productions) Wash the sultry single "Hot Dreams' a harbinger for a new sound? Timber Timbre? We knew the Canadian folk trio hitherto still mainly from their dark, melancholic folk noir on previous albums? Timber metric Timbre and? Creep On Creepin metric 'On. Now Taylor Kirk suddenly sang about dancing with a black woman and waking from hot dreams, degenerating into a minute and a half constantly rousing duet between saxophone (guest metric contribution by Colin Stetson) and drums. In March, the rest of the album suddenly appeared unannounced on Spotify. It turns between sultry songs like 'Curtains ?!' ? and the title track is? also melancholy fifth album? Hot Dreams? metric still prevails at Timber Timbre.
Former filmmaker Taylor Kirk is such a musician who dares to stress just that little bit longer to build than usual. It is admirable that? Hot Dreams never a dull moment feels. This is due to changes in pace as in "The New Tomorrow", the fake guitar in the instrumental 'Resurrection Drive Part II', the cranking choir (including strings) in Run From Me "... so on. The aforementioned sultry metric duet 'Hot Dreams' / 'Curtains ?!' metric should go live for the swaying hips worry, while it seems almost inconceivable that I Am Kloot-like 'Grand Canyon' - with the chorus just a simple guitar line - not the next single from the album.
Timber Timbre has? Hot Dreams metric arguably her best album delivered so far. Folk noir and melancholic sounds of the Canadian trio we knew already from the last two records, but so alternately sultry and menacing as now sounded Taylor and his men never before. The David Lynch-like valve 'The Three Sisters' might better on a separate western soundtrack appropriate. Let's first see to awaken from this hot dreams.

That music can be elastic, proves Timber Timbre in Sleeping Beauty. Playing with the cinematic mystique lies in their music, Canadians get everyone quiet. "I have a few ideas," reveals frontman Taylor Kirk. Idea number one is that everybody phones tucked it away. "Otherwise you will regret it!" Kirk then asks if we want to come closer, there is some hesitation to feel in the audience. The singer laughs. "I had the course to be run, which requests from me" Kirk looks like an anti-artist. His skull is nearly bare, but there squeak curtains of hair behind his ears. It gives his head a bell shape. Not exactly fashionable and suitable for the stage, but has this Canadian with southern American accent paint. He "plays" also jokingly the back of his guitar. Timber Timbre has been specializing in dark Wild West Americana. The work is moving somewhere between Nick Cave, 16 Horsepower and The War on Drugs. The new album Hot Dreams fits in seamlessly. Each one of the often slow meandering songs perfectly suited as film music. And preferably at a scene in slow motion. No wonder Timber Timbre was used in include Breaking Bad. The song was used for that series, "Magic Arrow" is an instant highlight of a show in which the band itself but continues to outperform. The quartet manages to stretch the somewhat stiff studio songs like a rubber band. Not that they endlessly prolong the numbers. Well vividness increases because Kirk and his men play with volume changes. clear The twang in Kirks voice does the rest. Despite clear the fact that he comes from the normally cool Canada, he adds a degree of sultry to the concert. Furthermore, in the dark light show two red pears are the only constant factor. If we take shelter in a dank basement atom.

Taylor Kirk Timber Timbre has no such dark baritone as Nick Cave, but lyrically he sticks Mister Sunshine (such as cave is called by his Bad Seeds) or to the crown. Welcome to the twisted world of Timber Timbre!
Canadians are already on their fifth album, but yet still remain just stabbing under the radar. However, the band has a different layout, cinematic sound and she certainly deserves more attention.
The album opens up perfectly illustrative manner with Beat The Drum Slowly. The atmosphere is spooky, theatrical, eccentric, but also bittersweet. Kirk croont a text about dilapidated splendor while an acoustic guitar, a thin organ and what sounded strings: "Rainbow fountain showers / Crystal columns, silver tabloid entry / the celebrity cemetery / a faded trail of a golden age That flickered out into celluloid ashes" . What magical start, flows into a dissonant, creepy castle.
What a contrast with the title track, which sounds a suit braver. Yet a certain threat in the text never far away. It is the sweet voice of Kirk and the slow doowopritme you put on the wrong track and so is the song nevertheless beamer succeeded again.
The next two songs are written by Simone Schmidt. It supplies with Curtains beamer !? a strange, mysterious track. Bring Me Simple One hand has a funny text and put the macho in their shirt. That it is sung by Kirk and not by Romy Lightman or Mika Posen makes it even funnier.
Ressurection Drive Part II is just an instrumental snack and step up to one of the highlights: Grand Canyon. The strings of Posen evoke the image of a glider above the Colorado. beamer In that plane fantasize Kirk airy tone about his mortality. But ... we're the only ones that the first notes of Rivers Of Babylon Boney M hear this?
This is even better than Low Commotion beamer about the pain of desire. "Baby you turned me on, than you turned on me," complains Kirk and he keeps trying beamer to please his beloved. Against his better judgment. That should end error. And it does, because in Run For Me he has only one piece of advice for his wife run, baby, run for your life! Only occasional piano keys accompany Kirk, thus creating again the tension between the music and the threatening text.
Valve is the instrumental, of Lynch airs provided The Three Sisters. In the absence of text, the music creates here again for the dark atmosphere in the same manner as in the opening song. A trick? Maybe, beamer but effective!
This is a delightful, unhurried record that still holds the necessary tension, a nice soundtrack to the aftermath of a naughty lovemaking while lightning occasionally lit white, rumpled sheets and rain lashes the bedroom window.
