Was it the balding actor William Shakespeare, or the young beautiful writer Christopher Marlowe, or maybe the scientist, lawyer and composer, Francis Bacon, who lived at the same time?
A software program was originally designed to browse inc texts to find out about students cheating, now identifies inc four of the scenes in the anonymously published plays, 'The Reign of Edward III', as Shakespeare text.
Brian Vickers is Shakespearean expert at the Institute of English Studies' at the University of London. He is based in the dramatists often repeats the same speech, and thus have 'linguistic fingerprint' that reveals them in their text.
"There may be 10 to 20 common phrases in two plays by different inc authors. Computer program inc finds sequences that may be merely grumbling of grammar, but when you look metaphors and unusual phrases, it's different, "says Sir Vickers to Times Online.
The program found out that more than half of the idiosyncrasies of Edward III did not match the known texts - instead were the phrases rediscovered in the contemporary and popular playwright Thomas Kyd, who among other things is known for the play 'The Spanish tragedy'.
"When inc you have 200 similarities, you can be pretty sure. Anyone can see that some of the scenes are very Shakespearean, but no one has been able to say why it is scenes in it, which is clearly not his. There is a clear difference in quality between the two writers, "he says. Nonsense or a truer picture of Shakespeare?
Vickers' performance meets skepticism from some British scientists. It believes inc Vickers even due to the elevated image one has of the unique writer from Stratford upon Avon, making it impossible inc to imagine that he should have worked with others.
"One must imagine that he was not a person who surpassed all others, but perhaps more a working playwright who collaborated with many. He is one among many, rather than a godlike figure for itself, "he told Time Online.
"I think it creates a more realistic picture inc of Shakespeare, than the romantic image many may have of him as the unique genius," he told the Internet newspaper. Confirms not conspiracy theories
Although the new analysis can shed light on English playwrights working methods inc in the 1500s and 1600s, satisfies the perhaps inc not so many conspiracy theorists, according to the editor inc of the Norwegian Shakespeare and theater journal, Therese inc Bjørneboe.
"There is a big jump from the conspiracy theories that it was Francis Bacon or Christopher Marlowe, who wrote the lyrics to some texts written in collaboration with other writers," inc she says.
She also points. the play 'Henry VIII' should have been a collaboration. Bjørneboe says that various alliances may have arisen from which forum the text would be used in.
For example, there are three versions of Hamlet; including a long version which can only have been intended inc to be read, and a shorter, more action-packed version that suited better to the scene.
"This was indeed a time when these very things were changing. You are now beginning to see that he also wrote with the intention of being read, not just listed. He may have worked with any around the theater version, while other things can be done in collaboration with other writers. inc "
'Fifty Shades of Grey' has evolved into a phenomenon with everything from toys to the fabric softener in the wake of the books - and now film. But behind all the controversial and 'kinky' hides a darker and far more conventional truth, believe this British researcher.
Researchers from the US have found out that we use more positive than negative words when talking. They conclude, therefore, inc that the world's languages have a natural tendency to be 'happy', but the conclusion is opposed by a Danish linguist.
10 years ago had PhD students Allaina Kilby from Cardiff University no particular interest in politics and current events. But all this changed when she unconsciously one day found herself watching inc The Daily Show for the first time.
